About North Side Community School
- Mission The mission of North Side Community School is to ensure that our students acquire the skills, knowledge, and personal qualities needed for success in middle and high school, and beyond.
- Vision North Side will be a financially sound, high quality charter public school serving a low-income, under-served neighborhood in St. Louis. We will serve 270 students in grades K-5, and work closely with parents and guardians with our school, our pre-school and our after-school programs. Parents and the community will appreciate and support the commitment and quality of the school. Our graduates will perform successfully in middle school because of the education they received at North Side. Because of our successes, North Side will be considered a model of education practice and reform for other urban schools.
- Methodology North Side believes the best method of education is through personal attention. We are committed to a small school, with small class sizes that ensure our faculty work closely with our students and their families. To further the close relationship between student, family and school, we are a neighborhood school, predominantly serving the children in our attendance area, a radius of two miles around the school.
- Technology Our curricular and instructional process will be built around eMINTS, (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies). This innovative process, designed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the University of Missouri, and the Missouri Department of Higher Education, helps integrate multimedia technology into student-centered teaching practices.
- Local Focus The founders and the Board of North Side believe strongly that decisions for an effective school must be made expeditiously after careful thought and research, and with knowledge of those most closely involved with the school. For this reason, it is our Board, all from St. Louis and all with an in-depth appreciation of local St. Louis conditions and developments, that makes the decisions affecting North Side, after input from school administration and staff.
