Development Associate (Part-Time)

North Side Community School operates across three campuses (early childhood center, elementary campus, and middle school campus). We are free (no tuition), public, and open to all. Most of our students live in the most challenging neighborhoods in St. Louis and 100% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Position Summary: The Development Assistant provides logistic and administrative support for the organization’s development activities, emphasizing support for grant submissions, special events, and implementing a donor-centered cultivation process. 20 hours a week is required.

Reports to: Director of Development

Start Date: Monday, December 9, 2024

Essential Functions:

FUND DEVELOPMENT 

  • Maintain donor database: gift entries, acknowledgment letters, monthly reporting, and reconciliation with accounting
  • Assist with grant writing
  • Assist with prospect identification, research, and cultivation
  • With the development team, establish and meet annual development goals
  • Other duties as assigned 

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Assist with writing donor communication materials
  • Maintain donor relations through phone calls, emails, and letter correspondence 
  • Support North Sides marketing and communication efforts on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, the website, and Constant Contact

SPECIAL EVENTS

  • Assist with logistics of annual gala including support with managing guest lists and registration, sponsorship packets, and day-of support
  • Assist with additional events as needed 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of related work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite
  • Experience with Donor Management Systems (DonorPerfect experience preferred)
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Skills & Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, nonprofit management, or another field of relevance
  • At least two-three years of communications/marketing experience
  • A passion for the mission of North Side Community School and racial equity
  • An eagerness to build brand awareness and provide excellent customer service to donors and volunteers
  • Strong organizational skills online and with paper
  • An excellent eye for detail, accuracy, and consistency in text and graphic design
  • Familiarity with navigating a donor database and or ability to learn quickly
  • Proficiency with G-suite and Microsoft Office software
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of integrity
  • Excellent cultural awareness and sensitivity to power differentials

Compensation:

$20 – $25 an hour
