The most important word in our name is  community. Position Summary 

The Elementary Lead Interventionist serves as a key instructional leader, overseeing the development  and implementation of targeted interventions in reading and mathematics for elementary students. This  role involves consulting with classroom teachers, planning and supervising Grade Level Interventionists,  and collaborating with school staff to ensure the effective delivery of intervention services. The Lead  Interventionist is responsible for identifying students in need, designing personalized intervention plans,  and monitoring student progress using assessment data. Additionally, they assist in coordinating and  implementing the school’s Literacy Plan, support teachers in diagnosing student strengths and  weaknesses, promote interest in reading, and lead the development and implementation of Reading  Success Plans. By leading the assessment of reading levels and readiness, the Lead Interventionist plays  a crucial role in supporting student achievement and fostering a culture of literacy excellence within the  school community.

Essential Functions 

  • Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to reading and mathematics  instruction using a progress-monitoring instrument as a base. 
  • Develop expertise, plan, lead, and supervise the Grade Level Interventionists in the following  functions: 

o Identify Students in Need: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff  to identify students who require additional academic support. Utilize assessment data  and observation to identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement. 

o Develop Intervention Plans: Design and implement personalized intervention plans for  students based on their specific needs and learning goals. Create differentiated  instructional materials and resources to address diverse learning styles and abilities. 

o Implement Intervention Strategies: Utilize IXL platform to provide targeted practice and  reinforcement in literacy and mathematics. Facilitate DEAR time and Read Aloud  sessions to promote literacy development and foster a love for reading. Incorporate  significant work in writing. 

o Conduct whole group and small group intervention sessions to deliver focused  instruction and support. 

o Collaborate with Classroom Teachers: Coordinate with classroom teachers to align  intervention strategies with classroom curriculum and instructional goals. Provide  ongoing communication and feedback to teachers regarding student progress and  performance. 

o Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess student progress and academic growth  through formative and summative assessments. Maintain accurate records of student  data and intervention outcomes to track effectiveness and inform decision-making. 

  • Assist teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in coordinating and implementing  the school Literacy Plan. 
  • Help teachers diagnose reading and mathematics strengths and weaknesses and match these  skills with appropriate techniques and materials. 
  • Promote interest in reading. 
  • Work with the classroom teachers to monitor student progress. 
  • Design and lead development of reading success plans  
  • Lead the implementation of reading success plans 
  • Lead the assessment of reading levels/readiness for all students in grades K to 3 and newly  enrolled students (grade1-5) at the beginning and end of the school year  

Skills & Characteristics 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or related field. 
  • Valid teaching certification/license preferred. 
  • Experience in providing literacy and mathematics interventions to elementary-aged students. Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instruction. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, students, and families. Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth. 
  • Familiar with Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III levels of support. 
  • Familiar with evidence-based reading strategies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A) 

Reading Specialist degree preferred  

Minimum 2 years of successful classroom teaching experience 

Certification: Missouri state teaching certificate (or eligible to receive)
