Compensation
With a minimum starting salary of $54,000 for degreed and certified teachers, we offer a generous compensation package that includes an array of benefits, including assistance with advanced education.
Position Summary
North Side Community School is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.
If you are a certified special education teacher with a passion for children of all ages, experience creating a positive and highly engaging classroom environment, and a talent for applying strong instructional and classroom management strategies, we want to meet you!
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Individualized Learning
Assess & Plan
- Evaluate students’ skills to design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Adapt Instruction
- Tailor learning materials and use data from formal and informal assessments to meet individual academic and social needs.
Engaging Teaching
- Utilize creative and engaging activities, including arts and drama, to teach core skills and prepare students for grade transitions.
Classroom Culture & Behavior Management
Culture Building
- Foster a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment centered on hard work, creativity, and collaboration.
Behavioral Support
- Develop positive behavior plans, monitor behavioral patterns, and implement interventions or crisis management strategies as needed.
Collaboration & Community
Holistic Teamwork
- Partner with support staff, including social workers and speech therapists, and coach fellow professionals to create comprehensive intervention plans.
Family Engagement
- Maintain open, proactive communication with parents regarding student progress and potential challenges.
School Stewardship
- Actively participate in school community events, professional development opportunities, and team meetings to uphold the school’s mission.

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.)
Certification: Missouri State Certification – Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical Disabilities (K–12)

North Side Community School is a PreK–8 public charter school in the City of St. Louis, founded in 2009, with an enrollment of approximately 500 students.
