Location: North Side Community School
Position Overview:
The After School Program Aide at North Side Community School supports the after-care program by assisting in the supervision and care of students from grades PreK-5 during after-school hours. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students, assisting with academic and enrichment activities, and maintaining a positive and supportive environment.
Schedule:
- Part-Time Position
- Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM (School Days Only)
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Supervision:
- Provide attentive supervision of students during after-care hours to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist with student check-in and dismissal, ensuring a smooth and orderly process.
- Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules to maintain a positive and respectful environment.
- Activity Assistance:
- Support the implementation of academic and enrichment activities designed by the After School Program Director.
- Engage students in activities, helping them with homework, crafts, games, and other enrichment activities.
- Assist in preparing and organizing materials needed for daily activities.
- Safety and Well-being:
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during after-care hours, including transitions between activities and outdoor play.
- Address minor behavioral issues or conflicts among students and report significant concerns to the After School Program Director.
- Provide basic first aid as needed and maintain an orderly and safe environment.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to support a cohesive after-care program.
- Work collaboratively with other after-care staff to ensure that all students receive appropriate attention and support.
- Provide feedback to the After School Program Director regarding student progress, concerns, and program needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or child development is a plus.
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to manage student behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
