Dear Friend of Northside,
Thank you for your generous support of Northside Community School. We are so grateful to have you on our team to provide students in North St. Louis with a quality education. As you can imagine this has been a challenging time for children. Over the past two years we have heavily invested our time, resources, and tools to support students as they recover from learning loss.
I am thrilled to share with you that we have seen improvements in students’ academic performance through our internal assessments this fall.
One of the many examples is 8th grade student Makyla. Last year Makyla had a difficult time adjusting to her new surroundings, peers, and staff as we returned to in-person learning. Makyla participated in our reading intervention program and over the course of a few months she noticed her own success and improvements.
As a result, her behavior changed and her grades in other classes improved as well. Makyla continues to participate in the reading program this year and is also part of the new cheerleading team. Her teacher, Ms. Jones shares that her grades, attitude and behavior exemplify what a Northside Knight should be. We are excited to see how Makyla will carry her success to high school.
